Google X – Secret Lab Exists to Innovate the Next Ground Breaking Technology

Somewhere in the Bay Area is a shadowy facility populated by innovators devoted to thinking way, way outside the box.

Google’s clandestine lab “Google X,” located somewhere near San Francisco, is dreaming up the future.

Think of it: Robots going to work in your stead, your refrigerator ordering your groceries, an elevator to the moon…

According to a story in the New York Times, Google is once again positioning itself as a ground breaking R&D outfit. Rumor has it they may be releasing their first technology from this division – one that most employees don’t even know exists – at the end of this year.

Speculation is that this technology could be built on the driverless cars Google has deployed for its über successful Street View as part of its Maps interface (there is someone in the car due to laws and regulations). Best yet, these cars may be manufactured in the U.S.

Of course, this is all just rumor; we will have to be patient and wait to see what next big thing Google unleashes on the planet.
