Video: Episode 3 – Crunching Numbers

<img style="float: left;" src="http://media2.hpcwire.com/dmr/Yoda.jpg" alt="" width="66" height="80" />Third and final episode of the National Center for Manufacturing Science's three-part video series. Like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, our trilogy's final video has a happy ending -- digital manufacturing means jobs...lots of them. The multiplier effect is far more powerful than you might think.

A good trilogy needs a happy ending – or at least they do for me! The epic Lord of the Rings ends with good conquering evil with peace and tranquility – and a fair bit of ale – restored in Hobbiton. The original Star Wars saga ends with Luke and the rebels defeating the Empire and Anakin Skywalker’s (Darth Vader) restoration as a Jedi Knight. While our trilogy is not about good versus evil it is about restoration – the restoration of American manufacturing competitiveness and the many resulting economic benefits to our nation.

“Crunching Numbers”, the third and final installment in the “Sign of Goodness” trilogy, is our happy ending. It is a review of what has been discussed in my article last week titled, “Digital Manufacturing: Economic Windfall”, and a HPC in the Cloud article it references. Enjoy the video and get prepared to enjoy the ride as we continue to transform the way America builds!

If you enjoyed these clips let me remind you that they are actually a very condensed version of an original video that in more detail shared the overall NCMS strategy leveraging the results of a recent DoE funded project at NCMS under our Lightweight Automotive Materials Program (LAMP) as a glimpse into what success looks like.
