Microsoft Principal Architect Joins GenieDB 

GenieDB today announced that it has appointed Matt Peebles to the position of Chief Architect to lead the product design of GenieDB's globally distributed MySQL service. With his database appliance leadership from DATAllegro and most recently as a Principal Architect at Microsoft, Peebles will use his extensive distributed database experience and strong leadership to deliver the innovative GenieDB vision to the marketplace.

Matt Peebles has over 20 years of software engineering experience and is a 10-year veteran in the distributed database industry, most recently serving as principal architect at Microsoft, working in the SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse group. He joined Microsoft with the acquisition of DATAllegro in 2008 where he was the VP of Engineering. At DATAllegro, Peebles built an agile engineering team and the massively parallel, shared nothing relational database appliance technology from the original prototype to acquisition.

GenieDB Globally Distributed MySQL Database-as-a-Service technology allows organizations to build large scale, multi-region, multi-master, high performance applications with the benefits of geographical database distribution, continuous availability during regional outages, and better application response time for globally distributed users.
