Brocade Joins 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium
Brocade has announced that it has joined the 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium in support of an industry standard that increases the performance and reduces the cost of data center networks, which run over a 25 or 50 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Ethernet connection.
"This is a natural progression with relatively minimal incremental cost and an excellent re-use of existing infrastructure," said Martin Skagen, chief architect at Brocade. "Our support of this consortium and the standard it has created reflects the strong commitment we have to the industry and our customers."
The goal of the Consortium is to help customers increase the performance of their data center networks, and the proposed speeds provide greater scalability.
"The 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium Steering Committee would like to welcome Brocade to the Consortium," stated Brad Booth, Secretary, 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium. "After announcing the Consortium, Brocade quickly reached out to become a member to help drive 25 Gigabit and 50 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for the benefit of the industry."
