Racemi Updates DynaCenter Software

Racemi today announced an update to its DynaCenter software with performance improvements of up to 85 percent, plus expanded platform support for Windows Server 2008 R1 and Windows Server 2003 R2 for cloud migrations to Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as expanded support for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS).

“Racemi technology has been an invaluable piece of our toolset for migrations to AWS,” said Derek Baltazar, senior cloud engineer, 2nd Watch. “Key features like the ability to capture physical machines to deploy into AWS and the ‘live capture’ of systems without the need to reboot have greatly enhanced our migration capabilities. As a partner, Racemi is responsive to our needs by continually adding new product features. We are looking forward to the latest feature additions in DynaCenter.”

The performance improvement means less time for the migration and is largely apparent on multi-threaded workloads which take advantage of the processing power of multi-core servers. With this update, the more cores available, the faster performance will be, while the CPU (central processing unit) sensitive capture process still ensures minimal service disruption of running servers.

Today, Racemi DynaCenter adds support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R1 and Windows Server 2003 R2 to address a broader range of legacy Windows servers. There are millions of these Windows Servers and with Extended Support from Microsoft ending next year for Windows Server 2003, it’s anticipated that many current users will seek to migrate those workloads to cloud infrastructure.

“Our DynaCenter software is used by cloud, hosting and managed service providers, as well as system integrators, to move existing customer workloads to cloud infrastructure,” said James Strayer, vice president of product management, Racemi. “The support of older Windows Server platforms opens new opportunities for our partners, while faster performance translates to higher customer satisfaction.”

Also, specific to Amazon cloud infrastructure, adding extended support for Elastic Block Store provides additional flexibility for enterprise customers who want to create a separate EBS volume to match each physical storage disk attached to the source server being migrated. This is an addition to existing support for optimizing file system storage across conjoined EBS volumes.

The DynaCenter update is available now from Racemi. The company’s server imaging technology quickly clones server workloads between dissimilar physical, virtual or private cloud platforms, reducing the migration process from days to minutes. Compared to lengthier manual migrations, the automated process delivers an average labor savings of over $800 per server. Racemi’s software technology captures the entire server stack—including operating system, applications, and configuration—and automatically converts it to run on the cloud platform by applying the necessary tools and drivers during the migration process. This ensures existing workloads are migrated in their time-tested configuration, resulting in improved reliability and reduced support requirements.
