Brian Stevens to Step Down as CTO of Red Hat 

Red Hat, Inc. today announced that Brian Stevens will step down as CTO.

"We want to thank Brian for his years of service and numerous contributions to Red Hat's business. We wish him well in his future endeavors," said Jim Whitehurst, President and CEO of Red Hat.

In the interim, the office of the CTO will be managed by Paul Cormier, President of products and technologies at Red Hat.

Stevens had experience as the former CTO of Mission Critical Linux. He also spent 14-years at Digital/Compaq as a senior member of the technical staff, where he served as an Architect of the Tru64 Operating System and clustering products.

He was a developer of the first commercial release of X Window System, as part of Project Athena, a joint venture of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Digital Equipment Corporation. He served as the Technical lead and Architect of the inaugural release of Digital's TruCluster product, which remains the industry's benchmark for clustered computing.

Stevens has been a Director of Pentaho Corporation since July 2012 and DataGravity, Inc. since March 27, 2013. He holds a US patent on secure methods of accessing computers through a firewall. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Computer Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.
