Vantage Joins Open Compute Project

Vantage Data Centers (Vantage), a leading provider of data center solutions today announced that it has joined the Open Compute Project (OCP) as a community member. OCP began as a project at Facebook to improve the cost and efficiency of infrastructure, and has grown into an industry group whose mission is to share best practices for the design of server, storage and data center hardware design through a collaborative community of individuals and corporate groups.

Citing rising customer interest in the project and the strong reputation of community members, the company plans to continue working directly with its customers to identify and implement OCP-compatible designs for servers, switches and other data center technologies.

“The depth of information OCP members are sharing within the community represents a leap forward for data center efficiency and the Open Hardware movement. Our V2 building on the Santa Clara campus is perfect for Open Compute, and we feel we will have a lot to contribute,” said Chris Yetman, Senior Vice President of Operations at Vantage. “Our customers know we’re focused on deploying the most highly-efficient and resilient equipment, and we’ve had several ask about open compute designs recently. We’re very excited about the additional cost, efficiency and scalability benefits OCP can bring our customers.”
