Exablaze Joins IBM OpenPOWER Foundation

Exablaze today announced the company has joined the OpenPOWER Foundation, an open development community based on IBM's POWER microprocessor architecture.

Exablaze joins a growing list of innovative technology organizations working collaboratively with IBM to build and deliver advanced server, networking and acceleration technology solutions to end users of both IBM's POWER8 architecture and industry leading vendors of related technologies. The OpenPOWER foundation makes POWER hardware and software available to open development for the first time, as well as making POWER intellectual property licensable to others, greatly expanding the ecosystem of innovators on the platform.

"As a starting point, the OpenPOWER foundation provides an exceptional opportunity for Exablaze to integrate our ExaNIC family of network interface cards, the lowest latency available, within the POWER architecture ecosystem," said Greg Robinson, Chairman of Exablaze. "Moving forward, we are excited about additional collaboration opportunities with other industry leaders in the hardware architecture and networking groups to deliver highly innovative next-generation computing platforms."

"The Exablaze team brings knowledge and dedication to the creation of low latency network devices," says Brad McCredie, President of the OpenPOWER Foundation and IBM Fellow and Vice President. "The OpenPOWER Foundation is eager to work with Exablaze to leverage CAPI and POWER8 I/O performance features to sprint past current performance limitations to enable the next generation of data analytics and cloud performance."
