365 Data Centers Launches New Enterprise Cloud Storage Service

365 Data Centers today announced the availability of its new 365 Cloud Storage service, the first truly local enterprise cloud storage-as-service (STaaS) across 17 U.S. markets. 365 Cloud Storage delivers enterprise-class security and controls, self-service provisioning, high security and pay-for-use pricing. 365 Cloud Storage is ideal for applications such as clustered databases, big-data analytics, file storage, archiving, storage migration, backup, remote disaster recovery and temporary workloads.

Combining dedicated colocation services with the benefits of the cloud, 365 Cloud Storage reduces the total cost of ownership for managing and maintaining storage infrastructure and is one of many solutions the company is developing to position itself as a hybrid cloud and data center services provider in North America. 365 Cloud Storage supports both Storage Area Networks (SAN) for block-based storage and Network Attached Storage (NAS) for file sharing and can be accessed securely via a data-center cross connect within 365's facilities or via Carrier Ethernet or metro fiber.

365 Cloud Storage provides a full host of enterprise-class features at an affordable price:

  • Web-based self-service provisioning, controls and monitoring
  • Selection of dedicated SATA, SAS and SSD drives
  • Support for both SAN block storage and NAS file storage (NFS/SMB)
  • 10Gbps and 1Gbps private network access via cross connect or metro fiber
  • Redundancy support for customized RAID configurations
  • Encryption of data at rest and in flight
  • Built-in data protection through snapshots, cloning and remote mirroring
  • Scalability to hundreds of terabytes per storage volume
  • Integration with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure environments
  • Pay-for-use pricing as low as 5 cents per GB per month.

Combining colocation and cloud services to deliver a local cloud reduces the latency, or round trip delay, by reducing the distance between a customer's application and storage. Within a metro area over fiber, customers can expect a latency of less than four milliseconds. Within the data center, latency is less than one millisecond.

"Businesses continue to struggle with the non-stop growth and management of storage. It is costly and risky to buy dedicated storage. Public cloud providers have been unable to crack the enterprise cloud storage market because it requires businesses to move both applications and data into the cloud," said Keao Caindec, CMO, 365 Data Centers. "365 is bringing the cloud to 17 local markets. We believe businesses should be able to connect their enterprise applications and servers to local on-demand storage to support development, testing, QA and production environments securely. We enable our clients to reduce the risk associated with purchasing dedicated physical storage infrastructure while avoiding large upfront capital expenditures and dramatically reducing total cost of ownership."

"365 Cloud Storage is a critical piece of our strategy to transition from being a pure colocation provider to a hybrid cloud and data center services provider. With our new local cloud services, we are able to help businesses scale more cost effectively and never run out of storage," said John Scanlon, CEO, 365 Data Centers. "Because our customers can privately access our cloud storage from within our data center or from their data center, it's never been easier to connect securely to the cloud."
