Midokura Announces Reseller Agreement with Penguin Computing

Midokura today announced a reseller agreement with Penguin Computing. Under the terms of the agreement, Penguin Computing will resell Midokura's award-winning network virtualization solution, MidoNet, throughout North America. Available immediately, end users will have access and benefit from a complete cloud infrastructure solution.

"We are pleased to partner with Midokura to provide the industry with a highly flexible and cost-effective enterprise-grade network virtualization solution," said Tom Coull, CEO and president of Penguin Computing. "Given our focus and expertise in enterprise data center and cloud solutions, we are excited to offer our customers a groundbreaking solution such as MidoNet to round out our portfolio of products."

Corporate IT departments strive to be more agile by providing a highly scalable, automated and resilient set of software and hardware infrastructures. While server and storage virtualization has been available for years, network virtualization and open switching hardware has recently gained acceptance as a way to achieve both CAPEX and OPEX reduction, while increasing agility and flexibility.

MidoNet integrates with leading cloud platforms, including OpenStack. It is a software-based, highly distributed network virtualization system that allows enterprises and service providers to build, run and manage virtual networks with increased control and flexibility. Using industry standards and leveraging existing physical infrastructure, MidoNet reduces costs and improves stability, scalability and performance of networks.

Penguin Computing offers high-performance, enterprise data center and cloud solutions. They have been pioneering Linux for network infrastructure with the introduction of its Arctica product line using an x86 control processor, which provides a flexible platform for Software-Defined Networking and customer-defined applications. Penguin's Arctica switches also support Cumulus Linux, enabling customers to apply Linux-based orchestration and management tools and Linux system administrator talent to network management.

"We share a common vision with Penguin Computing, that is providing users the ability to reduce the cost of their network infrastructure by leveraging industry standard hardware and software," said Dan Mihai Dumitriu, co-founder and CEO of Midokura. "We have been collaborating with Penguin Computing for several months and we are thrilled to solidify a formal partnership with them. Via Penguin Computing, our enterprise OpenStack customers can now have a complete solution with MidoNet installed on Penguin Computing's Servers interconnected by Arctica switches. Those switches, combined with Cumulus Linux, may also be used as hardware accelerated VXLAN gateways controlled by MidoNet."
