OVH Selects Nuage Networks’ SDN Offering

Nuage Networks today announced that OVH, the number one hosting provider in Europe, has selected the Nuage SDN Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) for deployment within and across its datacenters in order to enable dedicated cloud services for their customers.

OVH is well established in European markets with expertise and infrastructure extending over a dozen subsidiaries. The company is executing on an ambitious business model that invests heavily in innovation – such as Nuage Networks VSP - while optimizing operating costs to deliver compelling and competitively priced services.

OVH chose to implement the Nuage Networks VSP to deliver an “OpenStack as a Service” offering, through which customers can access dedicated servers in the OVH Private Cloud Computing infrastructure while leveraging OpenStack to define both network and datacenter resources for a better performing, more programmable, and operationally efficient cloud environment.

“We are pleased to implement Nuage Networks with OpenStack in our cloud infrastructure. The Nuage Networks SDN technology allows us to offer our customers cloud services in a more dynamic way, giving them the capability to reduce their time-to-market with a programmable and automated networking environment,” said Octave Klaba, CEO of OVH.

OVH customers require and deserve a network whose capabilities align with the changing needs of their diverse applications. The innovative Nuage Networks SDN solution provides network virtualization and automation that transforms OVH’s cloud datacenters into flexible environments that instantaneously establish the network services required for a given application in accordance with established enterprise policies.

“We are excited to work with OVH in support of their dedicated cloud initiative, which will allow them to deliver attractive and innovative cloud services to their European and international customers, while making their infrastructure more agile, responsive, and cost effective,” added Matthieu Bourguignon, Country Sales Officer for Alcatel-Lucent France.

Working with Nuage Networks enables OVH to implement dedicated cloud services that provide their customers control over how their cloud network extends and scales across their servers and virtual machines (VMs).

Additional benefits include:

  • Service provisioning speed and agility:Establishing network connectivity becomes as easy and instantaneous as creating a virtual machine (VM). Unlike traditional networks that are highly configuration-driven and manual, Nuage Networks allows an OVH customer’s network connectivity to follow seamlessly and immediately according to their pre-defined policies.
  • Control:The Nuage Networks SDN solution provides a common policy framework through which OVH can give their customers full control and visibility of dedicated servers, while ensuring that their performance guidelines are met.
  • Network flexibility and holistic management:Nuage Networks allows OVH to eliminate traditional datacenter networking restrictions and seamlessly evolve to new network configurations that better support their customer needs and deployment scenarios.
  • Lowered expenditures:Through a dramatically more operationally efficient approach, by making optimal use of datacenter assets, and by reducing dependencies on proprietary hardware and dedicated appliances, OVH also expects to realize significant economic benefits.
