Open–IX Association Announces Agenda for Upcoming Americas Interconnection Summit 

The Open-IX Association (OIX), a non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, today announces the final agenda for its Americas Interconnection Summit, taking place April 7-9, 2015 at the Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, CA. The three-day conference is an unprecedented gathering of influential Internet community members that aims to connect industry participants interested in peering and interconnection.

Attendees from Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), data center and Internet exchange operators, and related network hardware and software suppliers will hear presentations on issues, relevant trends and topics surrounding peering and interconnection from influential Internet community members, industry veterans and thought-leaders.

Day 1 of AIS will include meeting-maker sessions as well as an opening cocktail reception and dinner sponsored by AMS-IX United States. Day 2 will begin with breakfast and opening remarks from Open-IX Co-Founder and Chairman David Temkin and EdgeConneX CEO Randy Brouckman, followed by a series of educational sessions, including How to RFP Data CentersNetconf for Peering Automation; SIX IX Update; The Internet is Broken: The Effect of the Commodity Internet on Real-Time Applications; CloudRouter; and Software-Defined Internet Exchange. Networking activities on Day 2 will also include a networking break sponsored by Digital Realty as well as a dinner and social event at the San Diego Wine & Culinary Event Center sponsored by Comcast Wholesale.

The final day of AIS will feature breakfast followed by meeting-maker sessions and breaks sponsored by DE-CIX New YorkDuPont Fabros Technology, EdgeConneX, International Internet Exchange (IIX) and Netflix. Educational sessions will include the Title II PanelDDoS;Building the First IX in Mexico; Peering in Brazil; Bit Mile Peering; and Policy and Tooling. The agenda for Day 3 also features various Lightning Talks and a social event at the Western Metal Rooftop at San Diego’s Petco Park.

AIS is coordinated by the Open-IX Association, a non-profit association established to promote a simplified neutral and distributed Internet exchange system. Organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet, the Open-IX Association aims to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. With the help of broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the Association has successfully developed Internet exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and has certified 22 data centers and five exchanges since its establishment in 2013.
