Applied Micro and E4 Collaborate to Develop New Product Series

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, a global leader in computing and connectivity solutions, and E4 Computer Engineering SpA, a leading supplier of customized solutions for high performance computing and enterprise data centers, today announced a collaboration to develop E4’s new product series, the ARKA RK003.

The E4 ARKA RK003 solution is part of a low-power, low-energy platform ideal for a broad range of applications including education, finance, media, energy, defense/intelligence, cloud and Big Data. The RK003 offers reduced power consumption enabling a new level of high performance computing. E4’s ARKA series is the first platform based on ARMv8 core architecture that offers a complete software ecosystem of Linux OS, libraries, compilers and applications.

“We are excited to announce the increasing momentum of customer shipments in a vast range of applications,” said Piero Altoè, PhD, PM E4 Computer Engineering. “Our servers deliver high performance 64-bit ARM enabled computing, reaching an impressive 3.74 teraflops, ARMv8-A silicon. This performance advantage leads to massive scalability for enterprise and data center users.”

“Offering both the best of high performance and low power consumption for the next wave of data center connectivity, the rise of 64-bit ARM architecture is more prevalent than ever,” said Paramesh Gopi, president and CEO of AppliedMicro. “Since we announced the ARKA EK003 in June, we have seen excellent progress in providing an unparalleled enterprise experience for the server ecosystem.”
