Scale Computing Reports Record Growth in 2015

Feb. 2 -- Scale Computing, the leader in hyperconverged storage, server, and virtualization solutions for mid-sized users, announced today that the company has seen robust growth in 2015 in all areas from funding to headcount, including  1500+ customer deployments in the filed supporting thousands of VMs.

As more businesses look for alternatives for their legacy IT infrastructures in favor of more simplified solutions, the hyperconverged space has been in demand.  IDC estimates that hyperconverged or "integrated systems" is expected to grow to from $5.4 billion to $14.3 billion in 2017.

"The growth of the hyperconverged market has clearly demonstrated that businesses today are ready for a new way to implement their IT infrastructure and streamline operations," said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing.  "Scale Computing, which includes virtualization, servers and storage in one simplified system, is becoming the leading choice for many mid-sized businesses that want the functionality without the expense, licensing or hassle."

Over the past few years, Scale Computing has made its mark among small-to-midsized users because of its simple, scalable, and affordable approach to hyperconvergence in varying IT infrastructures. There is no virtualization software to license and no external storage to buy, so the HC3 platform reduces out-of-pocket costs, while providing reliable performance and capacity to keep business applications running.

"The reality of the modern data center is that IT professionals are stretched too thin, and that problems of the day are more pressing than investing the time in designing an architecture suitable for the future," said Jim Miller, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). The shortage of resources is why organizations consider all-flash arrays and Scale-up systems appear to be the simple, quick fix because they can start small and add capacity later.

"Scale Computing is providing a needed service in the small, mid-sized and small enterprise (SME) space," said Miller. "As Scale continues to expand its footprint throughout the datacenter, its HC3 seamlessly integrates storage, servers and virtualization into a scalable, turnkey infrastructure that's as easy to manage as a single server."

Given the challenges many IT teams face in the datacenter, Scale Computing is seeing broad adoption of the HC3 in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, education, local government, healthcare and financial services.   Some of the recent new customer acquisitions include the County of Paulding in Georgia and the Count of Pitt in North Carolina.  Universities such as Auburn University, Stephenson College in Maryland and Barton College in North Carolina have deployed the HC3 as well.

"We have not only seen customer acquisition grow but customer satisfaction is at an all-time high," said Ready.  "Scale Computing continues to exceed customer expectation pre and post sales.  This positive momentum in customer growth has also led to an increase in our company headcount as the company has broadened its operations in Canada as well as in EMEA."

Other 2015 milestones include closing on an $18 million funding round led by ABS Capital Partners to help deliver innovative new products to global customers.  Scale Computing was also named in The Channel Company's exclusive 2015 CRN Emerging Vendors List.

About Scale Computing

Scale Computing integrates storage, servers, and virtualization software into an all-in-one appliance based system that is scalable, self-healing, and as easy to manage as a single server. Using industry standard components, the HC3 appliances install in under an hour, and can be expanded and upgraded with no downtime. High availability insulates the user from any disk or server failure and a unified management capability driven by the patented HyperCore Software, efficiently integrates all functionality. The result is a data center solution that reduces operational complexity, allows a faster response to business issues, and dramatically reduces costs.
