Nor-Tech Reports Record Sales of HPC Clusters for CAE Modeling

Feb. 11 — Nor-Tech is reporting record sales of HPC clusters for CAE modeling. Among the reasons is Nor-Tech’s Demo Cluster, which gives organizations the ability to first test their simulation software on a cluster; and design innovations that bring the cost within reach of many organizations without compromising performance or quality.

The HPC software environment has also changed radically to accommodate market growth—with powerful simulation applications that allow organizations to perform in house, what they used to outsource. Many organizations are also witnessing the enormous advantage that simulation clusters have given their competitors.

Recent orders for Nor-Tech’s HPC simulation clusters include a major commercial aircraft manufacturer, over 20 large universities, pharmaceutical companies, and vehicle manufacturers.

Nor-Tech President and CEO David Bollig said, “2015 was definitely our best year for HPC cluster sales, but 2016 looks even better–much of the business we were working on last year is finally coming to fruition.”

Another reason for increased sales is strategic partnerships with independent CAE software vendors. “This continues to be a mutually beneficial relationship for Nor-Tech and our ISVs,” Bollig said. “These partnerships also give us the opportunity to collaborate and offer products that are better than either of us could have created alone.”

According to IDC, the market for HPC clusters is expected to grow continuously at least through 2018. IDC points out the importance of having the correct hardware and software for the application in order to realize return on investment. This underscores the imperative of working with an experienced system integrator, like Nor-Tech, that has a long list of satisfied HPC cluster clients.

Last month Nor-Tech published a new site for demonstrating the ROI of upgrading to an HPC cluster for simulations. The ROI counter, a collaboration between Intel, Dassault Systèmes’, and Nor-Tech, provides a real time measure of time and cost savings for simulations.
