Riverbed to Showcase Solutions at VMworld 2016

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Aug. 26 -- Riverbed Technology, the application performance company, will showcase its solutions at the VMworld 2016 Conference for intelligent application-defined SD-WAN (software-defined wide area networking), end-to-end cloud visibility, and software-defined edge technology.

In today’s digital world, the adoption of cloud services and the ever-increasing mobility of end users are reshaping the enterprise and creating a hybrid IT model that is complex to manage and costly to maintain. Traditional networks are now being replaced with intelligent, software-defined networks, where virtualized functions can be more easily, quickly and flexibly orchestrated. According to Gartner, SD-WAN uptake is expected to grow from less than 1% of enterprises today to 30% by the end of 2019. Enterprises can now also software-define the edge, and move data and operations into the datacenter or the cloud to eliminate data risk and simplify operations, such as provisioning and recovery at remote sites. This approach allows IT organizations to be more agile so they can act quickly as changes occur, enabling employees in all locations to stay productive and continue to deliver business results.

Riverbed will provide demonstrations to showcase solutions which offer a holistic approach to software-define today’s IT environment with a set of integrated solutions that give organizations the tools they need to understand, optimize, simplify, and protect applications and data across the digital enterprise.

  • Modernize Hybrid IT with App-Defined Networking & Visibility: Riverbed SteelConnect offers ubiquitous and unified connectivity, orchestration of application delivery across hybrid WANs, remote LANs and cloud networks with secure optimization and end-to-end application and network visibility to users everywhere. SteelConnect streamlines the design, deployment and management of distributed networks with centralized management and zero touch provisioning.
  • Attain Visibility & Optimization for Hybrid Cloud: With Riverbed SteelHead CX, certified for on-premise environments including VMware-based virtualized datacenters as well as cloud environments including VMware vCloud Air, Microsoft Azure, AWS, and others, businesses can deliver maximum application performance to users everywhere and increase application performance across the cloud and hybrid networks. With Riverbed SteelCentral in a virtualized infrastructure, businesses can monitor and troubleshoot network performance within VMware vSphere virtualized server hosts and troubleshoot VMware NSX virtualized networks with visibility into overlay protocols.
  • Simplify Remote IT with a Software-Defined Edge: Riverbed SteelFusion seamlessly projects NFV services, including those offered by Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution, SteelConnect, to edge sites from a centralized data center, providing centralized IT teams the flexibility of dynamically spinning up and down network services to meet the specific business needs of remote offices. Riverbed SteelCentral can integrate with the Riverbed SteelFusion, delivering both network and application visibility so that administrators can understand, troubleshoot, and collaborate on application performance issues more effectively.
  • Centralize Data and Operations with Remote Performance for Horizon (VDI): Riverbed delivers a software-defined edge approach that gives IT the security and control it seeks, without any compromise to application performance in remote locations. Riverbed SD-Edge for VDI combines local desktop performance with fully centralized and fast provisioning of new remote applications, updates, services and sites. VMware Horizon admins can centrally provision virtual desktops around the world in under 10 minutes and recover from branch outages 96x faster.
