Equus Computer Systems Launches 1.5U Server

Sept. 28 -- Equus Computer Systems, Inc., one of America’s largest manufacturers of custom hardware solutions, announces it has launched a unique new 1.5U server with two drive drawers, each supporting eight 3.5-inch hot-swappable SAS/SATA hard drives, delivering up to 160TB of drive storage in a compact form factor. The server also supports two internal 2.5-inch SSD drives, so it can scale out to 16 data drives, and still offer a separate redundant OS volume.

At data transfer rates of up to 12 gigabits per second (GiB/s), the new 1.5U server has capacity and performance that make it ideal for those seeking to increase storage density while decreasing footprint and operational expenses. It is designed for those looking to optimize valuable data center rack space while improving efficiency.

The new server can accommodate 33 percent more drives than a typical 2U server, while using 25 percent less rack space. The availability of two drive drawers means drive failure will not bring the server down. Users can simply pull out the drive drawer and remove the failed drive while the rest of the drives in the drawer remain online.

The flexible 1.5U server is a great fit for academia, medical, enterprise, or content delivery applications. It is a good choice for object oriented storage, database, file, or analytic servers.

Equus offers custom configurations of the 1.5U server, and can conform to any type of customer networking topologies or requirements. The server uses the latest Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v4 family and the most current LSI/Broadcom controllers with cache backup.
