Toshiba Expands Enterprise SATA SSD Options on Dell EMC PowerEdge Servers

IRVINE, Calif., April 20, 2017 -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), a committed technology leader, today announces that Dell EMC is now incorporating Toshiba’s HK4 Series 1.8” and 2.5” Data Center SATA SSDs into Dell EMC’s PowerEdge 13G Servers.

Toshiba’s HK4 Series SATA SSDs offer enterprise-optimized latency, power, performance and encryption capabilities for enterprise applications such as web servers, file servers, media streaming, video-on-demand, search engines and warm data storage. The HK Series is equipped with Toshiba’s proprietary Quadruple Swing-By Code (QSBC) error correction technology, a highly efficient error correction code (ECC) providing improved data protection and reliability.

“Dell EMC customers will now have more choices with this new collaboration, and the addition of Toshiba data center SSDs will offer customers choice in reliable, high performing and secure technology to support enterprise environments and applications,” said Ravi Pendekanti, senior vice president server solutions product management and marketing at Dell EMC. “An enhanced Dell EMC PowerEdge 13G Server portfolio with Toshiba HK4 encrypted data center SSDs offers our customers better options for securing their critical company data.”

As previously announced, new IDC market reports1 identified Toshiba as the fastest growing vendor in both the worldwide $25 billion hard disk drive (HDD) segment, as well as in the $17 billion solid state drive (SSD) segment in 2016 over 2015, as measured by revenue and units. Toshiba consistently pushes to strengthen its SSD lineup and develop game-changing storage technologies for datacenter and enterprise storage in order to meet the demanding needs of its customers and partners.

“Toshiba brings decades of storage experience and a broad product portfolio to Dell EMC and their customers,” said Steve Fingerhut, senior vice president and general manager, SSD and HDD business units at Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. “Today’s news further illustrates our continued push to solve customer challenges with innovative storage products and our alignment as a long-term storage supplier of SSDs to Dell EMC.”
