SAP Unveils Live Business, Expands Google Partnership, Bolsters SAP Cloud

ORLANDO, Fla., May 16, 2017 -- SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) said today it has harnessed its digital core, bold technologies of the future and its expertise in ERP to help customers make everything digital, programmable, smarter. SAP's commitment to an open ecosystem and strong partnerships will be key for the cloud-based intelligent enterprise, seen as a cornerstone for the new global economy.

SAP also reiterated its pledge to listen to its customers and act on their biggest concerns with two new initiatives. The SAP Cloud Trust Center and a new digital tool called the SAP Transformation Navigator were rolled out to deliver greater transparency and clearer product guidance for customers.

Expanded SAP Leonardo: Digital Innovation System

Becoming a digital business requires business model and business process changes that no single technology can deliver. The expanded SAP Leonardo brings together differentiating software capabilities in machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, analytics and blockchain on SAP Cloud Platform together with SAP experience, deep process and industry knowledge, and advanced design thinking methodology. With dozens of industry awards and recognitions, each of these areas of SAP's portfolio can add tremendous value for our customers on their digital journey — but the real power is when they all work together.

This comprehensive digital innovation system will offer customers either an industry-focused approach called industry accelerators, aligned to specific use cases, with fixed prices and timelines, or a flexible approach that allows customers to build what they require for any industry or business need. SAP also is integrating SAP Leonardo capabilities with its existing applications to make them more powerful and intelligent, and will offer services for developers and partners to build their own custom applications supported by a network of SAP Leonardo Centers with initial locations in New York, Paris, São Leopoldo and Bangalore.

New developments across the SAP Leonardo innovation portfolio include the SAP Leonardo Machine Learning Foundation; a set of new machine learning–enabled applications for corporate functions ranging from invoicing to customer service and retention; and an SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain service for building application extensions and new solutions using distributed ledger technology.

SAP also launched its new digital twin solution and new services as part of its push to optimize asset management with the IoT. To build the ecosystem for SAP Leonardo, SAP also announced a new collaboration with Deloitte to deliver offerings that can accelerate innovation, bolster the core and unlock exponential value. Offerings will include digital and intelligent solutions for finance, supply chain and software-as-a-service for industry.

SAP, Google Expand Partnership

The SAP and Google strategic co-innovation partnership announced in March now includes additional certification of SAP technology and applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The partnership also aims to make SAP Cloud Platform on GCP available globally, as well as future collaboration and integrations in machine learning, the IoT, data transparency and custodian services, and workplace productivity.

SAP and Google have now certified the SAP NetWeaver technology platform on GCP, enabling organizations to run SAP S/4HANA and the SAP Business Warehouse application on GCP. Additionally, the companies announced general availability and certification of the SAP HANA database on GCP for larger instances and scale-out and a data connector for the SAP Analytics Cloud solution for Google Big Query. Google and SAP plan to accelerate customers' digital business transformation through intelligent applications such as conversational apps that guide users through complex workflows and transactions and answer questions around their enterprise. To achieve this, the companies plan to combine SAP's business process expertise with Google's machine learning services, such as the Translate and Speech APIs, and the open source library for machine learning, TensorFlow.

Google and SAP announced the Intelligent App Challenge. The competition challenges Google and SAP partner ecosystems to build intelligent applications using SAP HANA, express edition, on GCP.

SAP Cloud Platform Accelerates Adoption, Improves Choice and Advances Consumption for Customers

SAP Cloud Platform now offers an agile multicloud environment, enabling customers to develop and run apps utilizing their choice of infrastructure providers, including full multicloud support through SAP, Amazon Web Services (general availability), Microsoft Azure (public preview), and Google Cloud Platform (demo showcase) — all managed in the new SAP Cloud Platform cockpit. Cloud Foundry–based SAP Cloud Platform includes multilanguage runtime environments, including Java, Node.js and SAP HANA extended application services, advanced model.

Also new on SAP Cloud Platform is the optimized way customers can discover, try, buy and deploy APIs, SAP partner apps and other digital business services. The SAP API Business Hub has added hundreds of new APIs for SAP S/4HANA, SAP Hybris solutions, and SAP Ariba solutions, as well as new integration flows and microservices for customers to test and deploy. SAP App Center now offers online discovery so users can easily try, purchase and use partner apps directly from the center. Enhancements to SAP App Center and SAP API Business Hub provide seamless digital downloads and app lifecycle management.

New value-added services for SAP Cloud Platform include the IoT service general availability and Big Data services to support apps powered by SAP Leonardo, as well as new mobile services and SAP Fiori Cloud app development and deployment services to provide customers a digital edge.
