GIGABYTE Expands RACKLUTION-OP Range with New Racks and Nodes

TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 25, 2018 -- GIGABYTE, an industry leader in hyper-converged server hardware, is expanding its RACKLUTION-OP datacenter solutions product range with new compute and storage nodes that are compliant with Open Rack Standards version 2.0, and a 12OU highly portable mini rack cabinet ideal for proof of concept evaluations or for a 5G base station.

RACKLUTION-OP is the name for GIGABYTE’s server product line based on the Open Compute Project’s 21” Open Rack Standards, a revolutionary set of hardware design guidelines that offer dramatic improvements in space, power and cooling efficiency compared with traditional 19” rack systems. GIGABYTE’s RACKLUTION-OP products are proving popular with hyperscalers and large data center customers, offering noticeable CAPEX and OPEX savings due to the following major design features:

Optimal Rack Size & Density – the 21” rack width and 2OU height 3 node tray design provides a balanced consideration between density and power consumption, with more space for cabling and cooling.

Centralized Power Distribution – power distribution is centralized in each rack and distributed to each shelf by bus bar. Centralizing power supplies minimizes maintenance requirements and failure rates.

Thermal Optimization – rack and nodes have been designed based on the cold aisle / hot aisle concept, to reduce cooling power consumption and provide for easier maintenance in the cold aisle.

GIGABYTE now has released two versions of RACKLUTION-OP products – version 1.0 and version 2.0, that correspond with version 1.0 or version 2.0 of the Open Rack Standards. The most important change for RACKLUTION-OP from version 1.0 to version 2.0 has been the change from a triple bus-bar power distribution system (version 1.0) to a single bus-bar system (version 2.0). Both systems will continue to co-exist with each other, and customers can choose the design version based on their preference and requirements.

GIGABYTE is excited to be able to officially add the following new products to its RACKLUTION-OP range:

TO21-C20Computing node compliant with Open Rack Standards v2.0, with storage bays for 4 x 3.5” HDD via SATA / SAS

TO21-C21: Computing node compliant with Open Rack Standards v2.0, with 2 x 2.5” storage bays for NVMe U.2 SSD drives, and 2 x 3.5” HDD storage bays via SATA / SAS

TO21-JS02OU JBOD tray compliant with Open Rack Standards v2.0 that can accommodate 45 x 3.5” HDDs via SATA / SAS.
