Yahoo! JAPAN/Actapio Selects Quobyte as Storage Foundation for their Private Cloud Infrastructure

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 6, 2018 -- Quobyte Inc., a leading developer of modern storage system software, announced today that CTO Felix Hupfeld will be presenting how the company’s next-generation file system helped Yahoo! JAPAN better leverage its vast data stores at OpenStack Summit in Hall 7 - Level 2 - 7.2a / Helsinki 1 of CityCube Berlin November 14 at 11:50 a.m. They will also be exhibiting at stand A9.

Hupfeld joins Yahoo! JAPAN’s Yusuke Sato in the “Supporting 90 Million Devices a Day is Just the Beginning” presentation as part of the conference’s Private & Hybrid Cloud track.  The session will focus on how Yahoo! JAPAN implemented OpenStack and Quobyte as the foundation of its next-generation platform to help meet the challenges faced in expanding its capabilities to leverage vast data stores, including demographic, psychographic, e-commerce, real-time search, and web browsing.

Quobyte is a high-performance storage system that can host the full spectrum of OpenStack workloads in a single deployment. Since all data is contained in regular Quobyte file systems, it can be made available directly to non-OpenStack consumers. Additionally, the deployment can be shared with other use cases, like a Big Data or microservices cluster, or accessed using Quobyte’s native Windows and macOS clients. With its partition- and fault-tolerance, linear scalability and policy-driven placement mechanisms, Quobyte makes installations of any size easier to manage and enables operating deployments at massive scale.

“I look forward to presenting to attendees of OpenStack Summit Berlin how we were able to provide the fast and scalable storage that Yahoo! JAPAN needed to support their transition from a smartphone company to a data company,” said Hupfeld. “Our ability to seamlessly integrate OpenStack and Kubernetes provided the basis for the state-of-the-art platform that enabled Yahoo! JAPAN to leverage real-time data modeling and insight at the scale required of one of the country’s most-visited websites.”

Thousands of IT decision makers, operators and the developers will gather at OpenStack Summit to collaborate across common use cases and solve real problems. OpenStack Summit features more than 200 sessions and workshops on Container Infrastructure, CI/CD, Telecom + NFV, Public Cloud, Private & Hybrid Cloud and members of open source communities like Ansible, Ceph, Docker, Kata Containers, Kubernetes, ONAP, OpenStack, Open vSwitch, OPNFV, Zuul and more.  Additional information about the event is available athttps://www.openstack.org/summit/berlin-2018/
